Hi, I’m Sharon, the celebrant behind Simply Human Ceremonies. I am a celebrant based in Hampshire, dedicated to creating unique ceremonies for all occasions.

Celebrant-led Ceremony by Sharon Bridgland-Gough

I came to celebrancy through my own experience of humanist ceremonies. I had a humanist wedding in 2014, and later a naming ceremony for my daughter in 2019. Both stayed with me because they felt personal, meaningful and honest — not something we were fitting ourselves into. Instead, it was something that genuinely reflected us.

That is what first drew me to this work. Simply Human Ceremonies may be newly launched, but working with people has always been central to who I am, listening closely, understanding what matters, and supporting people through significant moments with warmth, clarity and care. Becoming a celebrant feels like a natural bringing together of the skills and values that have shaped my working life.

I’ve always been curious about people’s stories: what matters to them, what has shaped them, and how they make sense of life’s most important moments.

My style is calm, warm and quietly organised. I care about getting things right and helping people feel calm and looked after, especially when they are still working out what they want.

I love finding out about couples, especially the small details: the way people talk about each other, the ordinary moments that say something real, the things that might not seem important at first. Yet these things often become the heart of the ceremony.

Every ceremony I create is written from scratch.

We start with a conversation, and the ceremony grows from there.
